I'm sorry if this is a repeat of questions asked before, but I'm new.
My husband and I just purchased a Model C in relatively decent condition. The first order of business is cleaning, then making decisions about what parts to replace.
I need to clean the chrome topic, exterior, inside oven and oven racks, knobs, handles and even the Chambers logo. Are there specific products that I should and shouldn't use for each of these jobs? There is some rust in the interior of the oven - sellers had the stove outside for a few weeks. Is there anything specific I should do to stop the rust? We're in the midst of summer here in New Orleans and the humidity is horrible. What about scratches? The exterior finish is in good shape - only one scratch on the oven door. If we ever redo the whole outside, it will be years. There is also a little rust on the chrome top.
Thanks so much for all your help.

To clean the chrome top.
if there is any greasy residue remove it.
Don't use a brillo pad or any thing that will
scratch it. Turtle wax chrome polish, and elbow grease
will remove the rust stains. Wrights Silver Creme
will really put a finishing shine on the top and
provide some type of wax coating to help protect it.
Wrights really does a super job on the chome knobs.
I would use it on the logo after a through cleaning.

I'm a giant fan of amonia for cleaning the grease off the stove and for general cleaning. for the real dirt busting first cleaning, use very very hot water, one gallon, with a good two cups of amonia in it. get a good amount of that hot amonia water on the stove and let it set for 20 minutes or so before getting into the degreasing process. you will be amazed at the amount of crud that will come off easily. for real serious dirt and grease, FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS TO A "T", use lye. red devil lye, one bottle to five gallons of water, GENTLY place your grates, drip pans and burners into the bucket and allow to soak 24 hours then hose off. DO NOT USE LYE ON ALUMINUM. Your timer and temperture knobs are cloisenee, wash gently with the amonia/water but treat them with respect, they're delicate. if your CHAMBERS tag is cloisienee or chrome, treat the same with amonia/water.
